Artist's Statement
It’s not easy to stand in full vulnerability, both in front of yourself and others. It takes courage: the courage to stop wearing a mask and to expose your true self.
The need to live authentically becomes stronger than the fear of not fitting in or being unaccepted.Being authentic means showing your full vulnerability without ego. When you embrace it and become comfortable with it, you’re truly owning it. And when you own your vulnerability, it transforms into resilience and strength.
For me, this journey unfolded as a simple progression: vulnerability → ownership → resilience.
It’s a process of accepting yourself with gratitude, love, honesty, and humility.

About the Artist
Antonija Butković is a Croatian illustrator and multidisciplinary designer whose work blends geometric abstraction with expressive, character-driven storytelling.
Through her exploration of identity, vulnerability and the feminine psyche, she creates figures that feel both fragmented and whole. Masks that reveal rather than conceal.
Her visual language combines emotional depth with precise graphic structure, resulting in artworks that feel intimate, architectural and unapologetically alive.
Based in Zagreb, she works across digital illustration, product design and creative direction, producing museum-grade fine art prints with a focus on quality, craftsmanship and contemporary visual culture.
